What makes humans so easy to control..? (rhetorical) We respect authority? too much, and not each other enough.. I'm just saying.

That's what I would have done. I would have probably just assumed it was directions to which way the restrooms were or? something.

The scary thing is that they followed the rules..and? did not question =p

Thereīs another experiment...All the people? have a deal to mark incorrect answers and waiting for the reaction of the one....

what other social factors do you mean? to me, there clearly was alot of subjects who walked up to the door with? the opposite gender on it, stopped, turned, and went through the other door.... it's more funny that anything if you ask me XP
By: keg2014. on 26 Feb 12, 21:20:13
i? would walk through the male only doors just to freak people out XD

This is AWESOME. I love how a lot of them look back over their shoulder like "...well that was weird." Then turn back around like, "Oh well. At least I went through the right door." Nice job. Great experiment with a? hilariously interesting outcome.

I always? hated these kinds of experiments to try and prove sexism as a social construct. They are poorly controlled and don't account for other social factors that affect behavior.

the point up? the experiment was to c how many were going to follow the signs as if they were being told that's what they have to do like if a woman should be a housewife instead of having a job and making more money than a man
By: EmmTrain. on 04 Jan 12, 00:49:24
Interesting. Do they realize the door leads? to the same place?
By: jalbador. on 29 Dec 11, 20:42:30
What the should have done was put up a ink blot with the line through it (like the no parking sign)? on one door and a different ink blot on the other door.

I am not sure this experiment is valid. Here, you are given signs by an institution (in which you are? walking into). You are not making choice, the institution made it. This is a "trust" thing. Although the absurd is obvious and these doors make no sense, maybe if I walk through the wrong one I will suffer repercussions.

This is just like the? signs on bathrooms. Males don't go into the females' washroom and females don't go into the males' washroom.
By: 39533. on 22 Dec 11, 05:31:15
they would probably walk in the gender door that they were born with and? then walk out the other gender door lol
By: viviane5572. on 26 Nov 11, 23:11:32
At first almost everybody would obey, because even if you can't see the reason MAYBE there's one, but then if you gi again, you probably won't obey, cause you won't find the reason, then you'd feel like whatever, and? "why did them do it"

Good experiment, but I think this is not gender conformity... rather it is conforming to rules.... if you put a sign on? one door that said "sneakers only" and "non-sneakers" on the doors instead, people would follow them just as easily.

Very good? experiment.
